CNX Resources Corp., the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation, and the Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners have broken ground on a new, state-of-the-art playground in Northmoreland Park in Allegheny Township.
The playground build is part of the Penguins Foundation’s Operation Restore initiative, which tackles environmental restoration and community revitalization.
CNX and the Penguins Foundation are providing the majority of the funding for this important community asset, ensuring area children and families have a place to gather and stay active.
“Westmoreland County is a vital area to the future of our company and many of our employees live and work here, so we see it as our responsibility to help better a community that’s been so great to us,” Tim Dugan, chief operating officer at CNX, said in a statement. “The Penguins Foundation does a tremendous amount for the youth of our region. We’re excited to partner with them to create something that will have a positive, lasting effect on the children here.”
The playground is expected to be completed in the spring of 2019.
