Interested residents got an update recently on the proposed Innovation Center which will have its new home on the east side of the 100 block of North Main Street on empty property where commercial buildings were destroyed in a fire in 2012.

The evening, organized by Downtown Shenandoah Inc., unveiled the center’s conceptual plan which includes a modern three-story building to be used as a business incubator, support area for small businesses, meeting spaces, a new office for DSI, a coffee shop and more, according to the Republican Herald.

The York firm of Murphy & Dittenhafer Architects gave a presentation to the public on the conceptual designs.

The estimated cost of the project hovers around $12 million and depending on available funding, construction could begin in 2019, though no date has been announced.
