The Chambersburg Borough Council recently approved a construction contract to upgrade the borough’s Nicholson Square Park.
The council awarded a contract of more than $256,000 to David H. Martin Excavating of Chambersburg, Herald Mail Media reported citing a borough news release.
Nicholson Square is a new neighborhood north of Woodstock Road and east of Scotland Avenue. The borough is looking to develop the parkland into a recreation space. The first phase includes a “tot lot” playground, a youth playground, a butterfly garden, a walkway and handicapped-accessible parking spaces.
Construction will begin this year.
