The Marion Center Volunteer Fire Department is preparing to begin construction on a new facility.

The 9,000-sq.-ft. building, which will hold approximately 500 people, will be located on about 5 acres of land along Route 119 near Marion Center, The Indiana Gazette reports.

“We plan to start construction (at the new location) following the city water project that will be coming through Home this summer, and be done by the fall of 2020,” Gavin Misko, building committee chairman and president/assistant chief of the fire company.

Pittsburgh-based Morton Building Inc.  is designing the project.
